VENUE INFO
Smithsonian National Zoological Park, or National Zoo is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the nation’s capital. It’s one of the oldest zoos in the United States and is part of the Smithsonian Institution.
Among the most popular attractions are giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao who will be making their home at the zoo until 2034.
The National Zoo is home to more than 2,700 animals representing almost 400 different species, though the exact number can fluctuate. These animals, including endangered species, are housed across the zoo's two campuses in Washington, D.C., with the majority on exhibit at the Rock Creek Park location.
The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport houses hundreds of historically significant aircraft and spacecraft along with thousands of small artifacts on display in an open, hangar-like setting.
Some don't-miss features are the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower, the Airbus IMAX Theater, and the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar, where visitors can watch museum specialists at work restoring artifacts.
