"Chess," a hot new musical set during the Cold War focuses on the rivalry between an American and a Russian chess champion, which becomes a backdrop for a love triangle involving a woman caught between them.
The story uses the chess championship as a metaphor for international politics and espionage, following the characters from tournaments in Italy and Bangkok to the defection of the Russian player. The musical explores themes of rivalry, love, personal sacrifice, and the manipulation of individuals in a high-stakes political game, with significant plot variations between the London and Broadway productions.
This powerful tale features Aaron Tveit, Lea Michele and Nicholas Christopher in this seductive showdown of love, loyalty and power.
