Provincetown, Mass. is ideal in the spring because there are fewer crowds but plenty of daylight to experience the town’s natural beauty and rich history. Formerly known as the “Province Lands” the Pilgrims landed here first before they decided to settle across the Bay in Plymouth. The story started here in 1620 where the Pilgrims spent their first five weeks exploring Cape Cod. It was here that they signed the Mayflower Compact, the catalyst for American democracy.
Best known as the presidential getaway for the Kennedy clan, Hyannis is a village known for beaches like wide Kalmus Park Beach. We will stop at the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and enjoy a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy family.
Plymouth, a coastal town south of Boston, is the site of the first Pilgrim settlement, founded in 1620. Plymouth Rock, a boulder in Pilgrim Memorial State Park, marks the place where settlers are thought to have landed on shore. The Mayflower II, a full-scale replica of the ship that carried the Pilgrims across the Atlantic, is usually anchored at the park.
